I've long been interested in both Pauline and Angela Baynes, as I have a large oil portrait which I believe was painted by Angela in the 1940's.
It's signed Angela Baynes and is still in the original exhibition frame, but I've sadly never been able to find out much more about it or Angela!
Best wishes,
SophieSophie Honeysucklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08688933782282592067noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28039080.post-75416195033347223692013-02-09T07:48:06.681+00:002013-02-09T07:48:06.681+00:00Thanks for sharing the link, Hel – that's a fa...Thanks for sharing the link, Hel – that's a fantastic review! I'm sad to learn that nobody wants to publish 'Osric' as the illustrations were utterly charming.
In case you're interested, I've written about the exhibition here (it seems to be the only thing on the blogosphere about it, so I thought you might like to know that the exhibition hasn't gone entirely unremarked-on): http://helgurney.wordpress.com/2013/01/31/pauline-baynes-at-farnham-maltings-hidden-histories-and-childhood-wonder/Hel Gurneyhttp://helgurney.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28039080.post-6879674390847024422012-12-08T11:06:25.069+00:002012-12-08T11:06:25.069+00:00I knew it was coming: the Guardian asked ME–––– ho...I knew it was coming: the Guardian asked ME–––– how to clear copyright on the illustration!Brian Sibleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02395103557170474777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28039080.post-82848900163028633302012-12-08T10:44:04.778+00:002012-12-08T10:44:04.778+00:00In today's Guardian various people cite their ...In today's Guardian various people cite their favourite book illustrations (I think it's a plug for Folio Society)and one cites Pauline Baynes' "lampost" drawing from Narnia.

Roger O B...noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28039080.post-37578032010975582782012-12-07T10:08:22.537+00:002012-12-07T10:08:22.537+00:00Boll - Thanks for sharing that!
