HISTORY NOW

Just heard on Woman's Hour (Radio 4), during a discussion with a Cambridge historian about the background to Monteverdi's opera The Coronation of Poppea which has, as its central character, the second wife of the Emperor Nero:

"Nero got too much too young - it was a kind of Brittany Spears situation."

Whoever said ancient history was dull?!

  1. GILL comments...

I suggest that ancient history is a great deal less dull than Brittany Spears!
