I can pretty much guarantee that the Old Timer poster never existed outside of Photoshop.
BENTOS - Well, you (and Scamp whose site you linked to) may be right in some of these examples, but if you follow this link, you'll see workman applying the decal heads for the Mondo Pasta ads to one of the boats. Unless, of course, those too are faked...
The website for Berli-based advertising agency Scholz & Friends features their award winning ads for Jobsintown (such as the bank-teller inside the cash dispenser) and there are larger versions of lots of other examples here.
I keep on trying to ferret out the facts on these ads that Bentos cast doubts upon...
With reference to the Bic lawn-shaving razor: according to The Daily Telegraph:
"Bic ... doesn't have the money to compete with Gillette and Wilkinson Sword ... and has switched instead to a mainly PR-driven strategy. In a rare break with that, it was persuaded by its agencies to do this one-off ambient poster.
What happens A farmer's field in Great Baddow, near Chelmsford, shows a 20-foot replica of Bic's Comfort Twin razor resting against a white billboard, specially erected for the purpose. A strip of newly shaved grass runs from the road to the billboard. That's it."
Which, to be honest, I wouldn't be so chuffed about were I picking up my luggage there, suggesting as it does that it's a gamble whether you'll get your bags or not.
I like the ads but something is radically wrong with the word verification system, for comments ~ I have 'cross' a recognisable word; now that can't be right!
