Another small milestone passed: I received, today, the 4000th comment on the Sibleyblog and, appropriately, it was left by that long-serving Sibleyblogger, BOLL WEAVIL!
I am honoured to have the chance to make up the 4,000th comment.There are so many people to thank - my script writer and editor of course, the typist and God. I hope that we all will be around for the 10,000 !
Sulimp : A very poor acknowledgement speech that informs the recipients that the deliverer really doesn't know why he received the accolade, what its for or anything about it. He just felt it rude not to say something.If the sulimp is very public, visual indicators include regular, nervous glances at the floor and the award itself whilst hastily dedicating it to a table full of drunk backroom staff sitting close by and also, bewilderingly, God.

SUZANNE - I think you missed out on the beginning of this game: Boll (and a couple of others) are offering us definitions for the letter verification 'words' that you have to type in before being able to leave your comments. I think there's a book, radio, TV and board game in this...
[Incidentally, for those who wondered - and aren't habitual speakers of Tengwar (one of J R R Tolkien's Elven languages) - 'Luinfalathiel', in Elvish, means "daughter of the blue coast".]

Tartivio : a game, devised in an impromptu fashion in which the rules are never clearly defined or set down but from which, everyone emerges considering themselves to be the winner.Variants on this theme consist of the inclusion of players whom no one has ever seen and whose presence may have been invoked by a third party to bump up the numbers a bit...
adwirr : an ostensibly innocuous word or comment that sets up someone else to win the overall game - almost as if it had been scripted beforehand eg the line that precedes the shout of 'Mornington Crescent'. Perhaps for non-beeb readers I should also give a more global example from Al Gore - 'Look, if it bothers you that much we'll forget Florida'
