LEFT LUGGAGE

In a couple of days we'll be leaving Kalymnos and heading back home. Once again we will have to face the multiple anxieties of air-travel...

For, example, there is something intrinsically pathetic about the sight of a couple of abandoned suitcases...

But, depending on the context, it can be totally and utterly TRAGIC!

That was Marco Polo Airport in Venice. I'm sure things like that never go on in Greece.............

Poor little things, standing there, waving after the plane, "Wait! You forgot us! Was it something we said?"

Fantastic photo, though.

As I'll be crossing paths with you, I'll wave out of the window ! I don't like the idea of those suitcases abandoned though. Were they part of a bigger load ? How did they become suddenly invisisble and what went through the minds of the people who loaded all the others and then just left those there.....
BIGHTUM The amount of excess luggage fees paid to transport an item of a quarter of that value back to England so people can marvel at how cheap it is over there.

I absolutely love to fly. But I have to say I do get incredibly freaked out when I wait for my luggage in some less organised airports! I have seen luggage treated in a way you wouldn't treat your bin bag! Or there's some busybody at the point of entrance of the cases who thinks it's a good idea to sort some of them as they arrive and they don't make it to the conveyor belt. I had such an experience in Marrakech - waiting for ages for my case which didn't come via the conveyor belt. AFter searching around the airport looking for "lost luggage" I found my case neatly stacked against a wall. Mr Busybody had been busy again!

You tell us! Can't speak too highly of the much improved Chania aiport on Crete. Now you only have to wait half an hour for luggage instead of one.

WORESSI:state of mind when luggage fails to appear on carousel

Maybe there was a rabbit moving about inside the luggage and the airport authorities became alarmed in case there was something sinister contained inside it.

What a great photo! Although incredibly sad for the person involved. We're going to Florida on Thursday - why do I get the feeling I'm looking into the future with that picture?!

Hope you had a great time Brian :)

I didn't know that Marco Polo Airport had a Terminal 5. Obviously there's a lot to learn from the British way of doing things.

Rather surprisingly, we got back from Greece with all our luggage. Don't know what went wrong...
