...NOR ANY DROP TO DRINK

If it's true that 71% of the earth's surface is covered in water and 70% of the human body consists of water...

Then how the Hell can one bottle of Voss Artisian Water from Norway, containing less than 1 litre, cost (including restaurant service), wait for it ...

£6.94??

Mind you, since an average human being apparently drinks about 16, 000 gallons of water in a lifetime, Voss must be doing very-nicely-thank-you!

We did our bit to redress the balance by taking the empty bottle home with us and refilling it with Sainsbury's Caledonian Sparkling!

maybe they are charging for the bottle?

As everything in Norway is criminally expensive, you could take solace in the fact that most of the charge was incurred before it left Scandanavia.Even sticking the bottle under the tap probably cost a couple of quid. I suppose the answer is not to buy bottled water from anywhere. Then you are not complicit in the double sin of believing that the bottlers are giving you something special and that our own water companies are somehow exonerated from their duty to provide drinkable water from the tap !

JEN e-mailed to say:

This reminded me of friends who bought Blue Water in their search for the elixir of life. They paid a small fortune for it and the craze didn't last long.......

You add a capful of this Austrian water which has been subjected to a "Grander revitalisation process" to a litre of (unspecified) water --- and presto!
