PLAYING FAIR

We really are a desperately territorial species. This doubtless explains why the residents of three of the four flats in our house feel assaulted by the fact that - without so much as a Do-You-Mind or a By-Your-Leave - one family have annexed no less than HALF of the communally-shared garden and turned it into an adventure playground for their two children...

The rest of us are considering our options, ranging from complaints to some authority or other such as Health-and-Safety-Weights-and-Measures- Town-and-Country-Planning to good old-fashioned ARSON!

My latest response, however, is to investigate the possibilities of purchasing and installing a large family of gibbons, setting up a turnstile and licensing a few hot-dog, ice-cream and Coca-Cola concessions!

Oh, that's really nice of them. Send Fraser out to deal with it. Silly time for them to set it up though, I think there's a design flaw that makes them spontaneously combust in the month of May. (A can of gasoline may be required).

WOW! That's really good news... Except that (bizarre folk that they are) they assembled it in the RAIN -- maybe to ensure that it was WET and, therefore, less likely to spontaneously combust...

But then, maybe, TWO cans of gasoline... ;-)

Wow! Make the most of it Brian! After all, we never had stuff like that when we were little did we... Have a good old swing and a climb. It's just a shame they didn't put in one of those pools filled with plastic balls, whatever they're called! I've always wanted to have a go in one of those things!

It just takes one rogue resident to ruin life in a communal building.
I believe the residents of the other flats would be fully justified in using the structures - and not just for adorable rabbits and bears.
Now it's just possible that the 'adventure playground' might not survive robust use by adults.

What wonderfully helpful advice you all come up with! Thank you!!

I would suggest that you treat their house as communal area also. I sure they would not be minding if you pop in every now and then to watch the sky tv or to use the bathroom.

I would send them a letter of sincere thanks for providing such a wonderful facility for the good of all the residents, and then be sure to invite all my friends and family round to use it.

If we do all of these things, it cannot possibly stand for longer than a week -- if that!!
