SHOP FOR ALL SEASONS

I went to the Co-operative on what proved to be a fruitless quest for some decaffeinated tea-bags, only to find myself wondering whether I ought to be shopping early for Easter or stocking up for Christmas...

Still, at least the crackers, cake-frill and decorations were all half-price!

All very confusing isn't it! In Belgium custom has it that you can present your new year wishes up until 31st January... by offering some Easter eggs? On the news first this morning were the new year wishes from a political party leader - maybe we ought to have a whip round to get him a calendar with an instruction manual in several languages... (you never know what language to use here in the Belgian political world so as not to offend).

Doesn't beat Woolies - their Easter eggs were in at Christmas ! Surely we're missing out St Valentines Day...another 'false and commercial festival' as George C Scott said in the 1984 Christmas Carol.

Did you end up just buying David a Valentine card instead?

BOLL - That (as the ad used to say) is "The Wonder of Woolies". But trust you to work in a reference to 'A Christmas Carol' when it's still January!! :-0
