Hours of fun for everyone ! What shall we play today... I know, let's play sitting at the writing desk writing a novel... it's not very interactive is it ? Surely you'd have to provide the companion BBC Commissioning Editor doll in order to make any REAL money !

SONCE : being an item of merchandising pertaining to an exciting brand/tv series/pop group that just hits the shelves at the very moment its millions of excited devotees are discovering the next big thing. Many Sonces are marked up at £14.99 down to £2.99 in The Works and then finally end up in the pound shop being picked up by people who say 'Do you remember these, they were SO popular' and then put down again. In some parts of America, it is illegal to buy them at full price.I still have a very rare collectible Sarah Palin doll for sale if anyones interested.... comes with a hunting gun...very rare..

As a Christmas gift for someone who enjoys art and already has everything they want, I recommend the tasteful toy I saw in the National Gallery shop a couple of weeks ago: a Van Gogh finger-puppet with detachable ear.

OUPHOP: a publisher's Christmas dance (sorry, Boll, that doesn't match today's topic - unless Jane Austen's publisher was Oxford University Press!)
