COW HIDE

I went to my favourite BBQ Smoke House Restaurant, Bodeans, the other week and guess what I spotted hiding on a shelf over the kitchen...?

Well you can hardly blame it, can you??

Not sure cows are sacred creatures in Clapham, but I may be wrong...

Over here we have a dish called "tête de veau en tortue", which, translated literally, means "veal head turtle fashion". Maybe this one had been over here & saw a Belgian coming in?
(BTW it's veal head in a herby sauce - I can't remember ever having tried it)

And in Mock Turtle Soup - which is why the Mock Turtle in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has the carapace and fore-flippers of a turtle and the head, tail and back legs of a calf.

By the way, it wasn't just the head: you can't see the rest of the body, but, there's a whole cow up there!!

Well if the alternative is a turtle's head poking slyly out, I think I'd rather not.... it might put me off my dinner.

What? Put you off your Turtleburger, you mean?

Is the restaurant insured for acts of Bovine Intervention?!

Taking the bull by the horns, I'd say it's very unlikely...
