THE TRUTH ABOUT POOHSTICKS

Currently on show at Chris Beetles Gallery is an exhibition of cartoons and caricatures by Bill Hewison, Ed McLachlan and Mike Williams Three of the ALL-TIME Great Gag Artists of PUNCH.

One of my favourite gags from the collection is this cartoon by Williams (after a former Punch artist, E H Shepard)...

The exhibition remains on show until 5 May 2012.

Many thanks for the recommendation. I'm taking a trip down to town next week and will be sure to visit that exhibition.

Christopher – I like it because Mike Williams has so deftly caught the spirit of Shepard's original illustration. Though it's s a pity he didn't know how to spell 'Poohsticks'!! :)

Woman on a Raft – Yes, do go. And make sure you visit the wonderful new H M Bateman exhibition at the Cartoon Museum in Little Russell Street (near the Brit Mus).

By the way, you have a very interesting blog!

I think a "Poo stick" is what the Romans had a sponge on the end of!

Do you think CR & Pooh are having a "spliffing" time?
