The Greeks say...

A SOCIETY grows GREAT
when OLD MEN plant
TREES
whose shade they know
they shall never sit in!

Reminds me of Jean Giono's wonderful story 'The Man Who Planted Trees' which always makes me extremely happy and extremely sad at the same time. I'm sure you saw the Frederic Back animated film with the amazing Christopher Plummer narration. Damn that's powerful food. Hope you have a great time finishing that ever emptier glass!

I like this and may borrow it if you don't mind? I'll trade you for this one:
"Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money." ~Cree Indian Proverb

ANDY - Greek grammar!

BORIS - I love the book and that superb little picture is one of my all-time favourite animated films.

WELLINGTON - Alas, the Cree may well be proved right...
