A few weeks ago, Roger sent me a postcard from Braintree Shopping Centre which he reckoned was one of the most boring postcards ever produced...
Au contraire, I say! The shopping center picture contained vestiges of colour and even evidence of life, unlike this card of The Lounge, Herne Bay Court...
...wonder what it's like in the off-season?

It is somewhat lacking in charm. On the other hand, for the person who wants a nice quiet, absolutely no frills break...
It was actually BRACKNELL: I'm sure Braintree is much less boring!
Even this card présents a certain interest. All those chairs grouped together - where are the tables? Why would people gather round like that where there's nowhere for them to put their glasses or cups of tea?
SharonM – True! And ideal for someone, perhaps, who likes to keep themselves to themselves...
Roger o B – Unreserved apologies to Braintree!!
Suzanne – Maybe they just all sit in a circle, join hands and try to contact the living...?
Personally, I blame the pianist.
!!!!! :)
Ah! Herne Bay Court! We went there on holiday every year for sixteen years (from when I was 3 3/4), re-joining friends who went there every year too. The lounge was a place of delicious quiet during the day (except when I went in there to play the piano), because most people were out in the grounds playing tennis, swimming, or sitting and chatting. In the evening we all gathered to hear the guest speaker and sing hymns.
Thanks for the picture: I shall treasure it. Got any more?!
