GOING TO THE DOGS

Anyone who has recently visited the blog of my friend, David Weeks, will have noticed that he seems to have become a tad obsessed by canine capers... If you doubt it check out this earlier post on... er... well, how can I put it? What dog's do

Anyway, this current attack of mutt-mania probably explains why he spotted a curious indicator message on the Northern Line the other day...

With the speed - but, sadly, not the steady hand - of a member of the paparazzi, I snapped off a couple of shots before the message changed and the train arrived...

Anyway, it subsequently occurred to me that here might be a great publishing idea: The Ruff-Guide to London.

This useful volume would be primarily aimed at those who choose to observe London Transport's injunction that 'DOGS MUST BE CARRIED' on escalators (see D. Weeks' blog again) and would tell you, for example, where - when travelling, say, on the "Edgware via bark" line - you would need to change for...

Dog & Duck Yard...

Dog Kennel Hill...

Dog Lane...

Houndsditch...

Marylebone...

The Isle of Dogs...

And, obviously, Barking!

They are considering changing Dog Kennel Hill to Cat Basket Rise, apparently they see it as a more feline area.
