STANDING BY...

I am a bit anxious for Peter Jackson that, in extending his two-film Hobbit into a trilogy, he may need a bit of help filling a few roles on any necessary pick-ups if the original cast members are not available for extended contracts...

My good friend, Ian Smith (aka Irascian) recently uncovered these old photos of he and I trying out Gandalf's cart: it seems that whoever sits in Frodo's seat is magically shrunk to the size of a hobbit – which is obviously a damn sight easier than all those costly special effects!

Mind you, the photo was taken by Richard Taylor (the wizard of Weta Workshop) so everything may not be quite what it seems.

Anyway, if PJ has still got the cart, Ian and I are pretty much ready to roll...

(Incidentally, in case you missed his post, buttons the rabbit is also trying to get in on the act!)

Haha great pictures!

I have to wonder what is going to be in this third film. I don't recall that much occurring in The Hobbit!

Actually The Hobbit is stuffed with action: encounters with trolls, giant spiders, goblins, wargs, eagles, elves, not to mention a shape-changer, a dragon and a creature called Gollum...

Plus PJ is including in the scenario the events that are are going on elsewhere in Middle-earth that are part of what, will, eventually, ignite the War of the Ring. I've absolutely no doubt that PJ will deliver in spades, I just hope his audience won't desert him.

Love the pics!

I'm sure Peter Jackson will make all three films special.

Well at least it sounds like it's not just going to be two films of filler! Perhaps I am recalling the book poorly, it's many years since I read it.

I will say this though: while the merits of Peter Jackson's LOTR films are obvious, I still somehow managed the (probably unique) feat of falling asleep during the first cinema viewing of all three instalments! Mind you I do have the attention span of a.....

....where was I?!

Pretty excited about this! Still a bit tripped out (in a happy way) that he is going for another trilogy. my son Thaddeus was born just two hours after watching Return of the King the night it was released, now I get to take him to the theater to see the Hobbit!
Cheers
