PICK OF THE PIX: OLD DUTCH MASTERPIECE

Today's offering in this occasional series of posts featuring favourite photos from my flickr photostream shows a particularly striking sunset shot snapped during a visit to Amsterdam...

Wow. It could almost be a scene from Dante's Inferno.

I often think clouds can be absolutely fascinating - though I've yet to capture a cloud scene as well as you've done here.

Thanks, Sharon!

What is strange is that I was not well at the time. David and our friends were exploring the NEMO Science Center, I was sitting outside with a palpitating heart, wondering if I was going to end up in an Amsterdam hospital! David got me a drink and I sat watching the sun head towards setting and – ever the pro! – just happened to have my trusty Box Brownie by my side... ;)

I have a similar shot from Brugges square. The sunset was so striking people were coming out of the nearby cafes to look at it.The closest I have ever been to it since as in Aberystwyth (!) where sunsets are brilliant :-)
