ADVENT-ISING

Once upon a time, people opened the windows on an advent calendar to see a little picture, then it became an excuse for a daily chocolate and now this, just received, from the on-line store, Sendit...

Oh, dear...

Still, if the Magi were setting out on their journey this year, they could probably have saved themselves a few bob on a Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh deal-of-the-day...

Sigh. In the words of Charile Brown: "Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?"

It's all about how to exploit every nook 'n cranny of the season obviously.

I gave an advent calendar to the child of a friend because I thought she would have fun opening the windows each day in anticipation of Christmas. There was a small chocolate behind each window. Sadly, I later learned that my friend told her daughter she could just open all the windows at once and eat the chocolate in one fell swoop, delayed gratification being an entirely alien concept to them. Yet another symbol of our sad and greedy world. Alas.
