Sadly I have run out of photo storage space on blogger. If I want to upload any more photos I have suddenly been told, I need to pay $2.95 per month; so, sadly, I think it's time to say good bye!
It's been fun!
Say it isn't so! Say you just wanted to reference the Stevie Smith poem. You are one of the two or three bloggers that inspired me to get into this in the first place. Actually, the very same thing happened on Blogger to me this week. I wrote about it here: http://attemptedbloggery.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-cost-of-blogging.html In the comments section on my post, there's a link to an article explaining that if you resize the pictures so they are under 600 pixels in width, they do not count at all toward your photo storage limit.
The trouble is, I have six blogs that have been running from between 2-6 years: I can hardly keep up with blogging let along re-sizing the pictures! :(
Along with thousands of other Blogger users, I was suddenly confronted with a demand to pay that came out of (seemingly) nowhere. The previous FREE service was, apparently, changed with effect from April 2012, although most bloggers I have read on the net were, like me, unaware of this change until we ran out of storage space and were faced with a 'pay now' demand. In the early hours of the morning this was not a happy discovery.
Flickr, in contrast, has always operated a transparent system for costs of photo storage (and indeed I opt to pay to have a 'pro account' that provides me with sufficient storage to back-up my photographs); so, until I decide whether to give in to Blogger's demands, I will be uploading courtesy of 'my friend Flickr'! (Period joke!)
What a pity! Could you perhaps switch to another blog-hosting service (if there's one that allows more free photo storage)? I'm on WordPress and there are quite a few photographers on it. Or perhaps you're feeling that it's just as well and you'll just reduce the number of blogs you keep up? If so, I'll try to keep up with your exploits and gently riotous imagination on one of them. Thank you for your energy and inspiration! And for having been solely responsible, so far this Christmas season, for having infused some Christmas spirit in to my Scroogelike frame of mind.
Flickr seems to be the answer, Josna and will allow me to keep blogging: at least until I know whether I can find the time to down-size (or delete) photos from Blogger's Picasa storeroom or whether it is better to pay up to Blogger and hope it is not the beginning of a series of regular price-hikes! Thanks for your nice comments! :))
they all beat me to it - found some possible links explaining all the above http://gabrieladelworthdesigns.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/are-you-out-of-storage-space-for-your.html
also, http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=3202955 and the flikr option is discussed at http://themakeupdrawer.blogspot.co.uk/2010/12/has-anyone-run-into-this-problem-im-not.html mentions
in other words even if you have your own domain you would still not have this photo storage problem fixed. I would advise against photobucket because they have a traffic limit, if you exced it they won't show your pictures anymore. I would recommend flickr just because you can blog directly from there. I mean you upload a picture (it's really quick) and them tell flickr that you wanna export it to blogger. And it opens a new post with that picture. That's what I would recommend.

Oh, Brian -- I've just read this, and I'm so, so sorry. I hope we'll keep in touch via email. I'll miss your blog (and I'm so grateful you had it for the years you did, for I wouldn't have met you otherwise, and my life is so much richer with your friendship.) xoxoxoxo

It's annoying when they ruin your fun sooner or later.
Worst I end up using is some other file hosting place like "imgur" if it manages to stick around.

For the cost of a nail the battle was lost.
For the cost of one Starbucks coffee a month the opportunity to market your publications...
Oh no! My porage has extra salt on it this morning ...
